Today in Facebook, I noticed a lot of hoo-hah about the 13th star sign – Ophiucus. Apparently, the dates associated with the existing 12 signs were shifted to accommodate the newest member. And with that, almost everyone’s star sign changed *gasp*!
According to friends’ statuses, people were not happy at all!!
Another friend was kind enough to post the apparently latest horoscope chart for year 2011, with 13 zodiac signs:
Capricorn: January 20 – February 16
Aquarius: February 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11 – April 18
Aries: April 18 – May 13
Taurus: May 13 – June 21
Gemini: June 21 – July 20
Cancer: July 20 – August 10
Leo: August 10 – September 16
Virgo: September 16 – October 30
Libra: October 30 – November 23
Scorpio: November 23-29
Ophiuchus: November 29 – December 17
Sagittarius: December 17 – January 20
Ophiucus was smacked in between Scorpio and Sagittarius. Then I realised that I was suddenly a Virgo instead of a Libran. I am not very much a believer of astrological signs and how it affects your personality but who could resist being a little protective over their own horoscope? It has a peculiar way of creating a sense of belonging and identification with your sign, yes?
“Oh that makes you a (insert star sign here)! I’m a (insert identical star sign here) too!!! No wonder you are so (insert characteristic here) like me!!!”
So now the chart tells me I am a Virgo…..the horror! But I prefer the nice little balance rather than the virgin! It’s like telling me I am no longer diplomatic and fair and just and whatever adjective associated with the balance! I am vain and superficial because I’m a Libran not like I have a choice okay?! Now I’m not entitled to say that anymore because I am a Virgo *stomps foot on ground*!
Well, you get what I mean. It feels weird to be told that you were holding on to the wrong star sign for over 20 years. Its like being told by your parents that you are actually adopted.
Is this really happening? What about those who had their zodiac signs tattooed on?
I decided to do a little research myself, on Google that is. Well, it appears that the new horoscope chart only applies to those born after the year 2009. What a relief! So folks, I get to go to bed tonight as a Libran afterall….permissibly vain and superficial and all 🙂
